Having recently moved from their original location in Wicker Park, Modern Times is still in the business of namedropping classics of twentieth-century modern design. Devotees of the shop might travel anywhere for the selection, so its new home on Grand Avenue isn't much of a stretch. 
With the recent AT discussion of knock-offs concluding in passionate support of original design and quality, Modern Times is a classic Chicago stop for original pieces and up-and-coming designers.
Some of our favorites: Dana Joy's candelabra from her fab house tour; a pair of Knoll upholsterd lounge chairs, ($2800), and this Harvey Probber sofa, ($3800, above).
In addition to furnishings, Modern Times sells lighting fixtures, specialty objects (like this 1975 wallhanging by Eleanor and Henry Kluck (Elenhank) of Chicago), and select jewelry.

This is really a fantastic shop (did you see those yummy Jens Risom side charis?!!). I was always inspired by what I saw. Modern Times is like a pared-down and pricey BAM. Definitely a place to go for buying something you know you will keep forever.
