Our two favorite articles in the new Domino:
Page 140- 12 Step House THERAPY (!) and
Page 148- The Front Lines of Fabric
Admittedly, we are fully entranced by pattern these days, so the uber-colorful, layered patterns featured in both of this pieces is what drew us in.
The photo above is from the Front Lines of Fabric, where three textile designers (Carolina Irving, Leonie Brown, and Michael Smith) each show off their own bedrooms to give readers a sense of their style and vision. Carolina Irving's room (shown) features a silk-appliqued coverlet from Istanbul and dramatic black walls.
While we like the blue room at left, we wish that the photo of Krista Ewart's bedroom featured on page 146 of the House Therapy article was available online. It just may be one of the our favorite interiors in a magazine we've seen in a long time. The lemony yellow lamps, zig zag carpet, suzani covered bench and Indian block print coverlet in combination look fantastic. It's pattern overload done right.
We've barely had a chance to look through the new issue...any recommendations on what else is worth a peek (or not)?

honestly i was a little let down by this issue. the house tours didn't put a hitch in my giddy-up and everything felt like it was a discarded idea they had to put to use at last.
krista ewart's place was cool, but i thought everything else missed the mark.

Agreed. Still pretty solid, but nothing really jumped out at me this month as much as others. It's probably because their palette seemed pretty subdued this time around. Nice to see Miranda July in there, though!

I'm in love with the bedspread in the top photo. Does anyone know where I can find something similar? (And, preferably, not insanely expensive!)

Eric, rocketships, goodnightdean - I couldn't agree more. Starting with the cover, it all just felt a little flat - not horrible, but not juicy either.

I loved Krista's home, and also enjoyed the artists' home in Nairobi (I believe?). Not quite my style, but it was very romantic and serene, and I always enjoy seeing homes in other countries.
That said, I agree with everyone else that the issue was rather flat. The past few issues of Domino have been leaving me wanting more. I imagine if Blueprint went monthly, Domino would have quite a run for its money, given the similar feels of the magazines.

I enjoyed the cookware peg-board kitchen wall. I actually liked this issue better than the previous one which made me want to cancel my subscription.
The artists' home in Nairobi was offensive, it reeked of colonialism. Do they expect me to believe they couldn't find one brown person in Nairobi with a nice looking house?
