If your bedroom is small or oddly-shaped like so many of our older New England homes, closet doors can bang into the bed or don't fully open because of dressers or bedside tables. Not to mention the fact that you have to inch around the door when its even slightly open in order to get by. Our friend Dorinda finally removed her closet door altogether and replaced it with a simple vintage white linen curtain. It made all the difference spacewise and now she can actually see all of her clothes at once with the door "open".

Here at the AT Labs, we got really excited about cooking up a new project for 2009 in which we we're going to send a garden gnome around the world from reader to reader (ie. Amelie) and have them send us back photographs of the gnome on their sofa (or some part of their home) and track the whole thing on sendmehome.com. But then we thought that there might be something better to send around than a gnome. Any suggestions? And, if not, what's your best small, light, mailable gnome resource?
Hi AT! I'm planning on building a workshop/studio that will look like a garage from the outside. It needs to have garage doors to get larger pieces of artwork in and out but since I live in Maine (currently 17 degrees outside), they need to be super energy efficient. Also, it would be a plus to have lots of glass since they will be facing the north. I'm also open to them looking more contemporary and less traditional. Any ideas out there? Thanks! Tina
